This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Jan, you are absolutely correct! The Bible predicts this, and it is no surprise. Greed is the root cause of all of this, and is just the tip of the iceberg. And I'm ready!!

Greed  was  what  sunk  the  Roman  Empire.  I  guess  it's  time  to  demand  more  morality from everyone!  We  should  immediately  call for  a  more  equal  distribution  of  wealth ... before  Capitalism disintegrates into  a  corpse! Morality  invigorates  political  systems,  and  therefore  it  may  be  our  last  chance!

Thomas Jefferson said, "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."

Jefferson also believed that "banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies; and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."

Webster warned, "Of all the contrivances for cheating the laboring classes of mankind, none has been more effectual than that which deludes them with paper money." He also said, "We are in danger of being overwhelmed with irredeemable paper, mere paper, representing not gold nor silver; no, Sir, representing nothing but broken promises, bad faith, bankrupt corporations, cheated creditors, and a ruined people."

George Washington said, "Paper money has had the effect in your State (Rhode Island) that it ever will have, to ruin commerce-oppress the honest, and open the door to every species of fraud and injustice."

We need to stop the corporate bailouts and abolish the Federal Reserve Bank, a private bank.

The FED was a good thing when it started... jobs, food in the cupboard... but Some People don't know when to STOP BORROWING and START SAVING. We could have paid back the debt to the International banks many times over... but Some People think the More you Borrow the More you have!

It's a damn illusion and all Republicans have been caught up in it for almost 100 years.... and the Stock Market as well. Save your money... Buy GOLD... Don't Borrow money like the U.S. or sell Gold (like the U.S.)... or start WARS to make your industrial Friends richer.

I am wondering how these people sleep at night.......Bush, the CEO's in question who left with millions, and for that matter all of the Congress and Senate who have over time been responsible for the ongoing decline of life in the United States for all of it's citizens.  These people beg to represent us and they are supposed to be public servants, as in "serving the public".  The Bush administration allegedly believes that they protected us from further terrorism with our costly war in Iraq.  But who was protecting us from the domestic financial terrorism that we have all experienced?

In 8 years there was no progress in this country, let alone at least holding on to a stable economy that existed when Bush took office.  No health care reform.  The national debt soared, and nothing was accomplished to secure the future of social security and medicare.  I can understand how President Bush would expect us to have faith in his statement this morning that things will get better.

If he was asked the same question again that was posed before to him.........can you think of any mistakes that you have made?  Would he still have that dumfounded look on his face and tell us that he can't think of any?

I believe they are sleeping very well and do not care. Their nest egg is protected and they make more money in one month than the rest of americans can make in their lifetime. Funny the last IRS census showed that 50% of amerians make less than $32,000 dollars per year. No wonder these people have to leverage themselves to survive.

Obama's Global Poverty Act of 2007 will allow future legislation to add virtually unlimited new foreign aid spending.

Foreign aid spending is not authorized by the U.S. Constitution.

We are losing our freedoms along with our sovereignty as we move toward a gobal society.  This legislation is clearly designed to further that goal.  A global political structure can only result in a global dictatorship.

We don't and never will believe anything Bush has to say, because it's only a lie. Why should he care about our economy? He'll be out of office soon, thank God, so why should he care? He hasn't cared for the last eight years. Our economy sucks and it's going to get worse. We even might have a recession or even have wall street crash. This country deserves it, because there are too many greedy people who only care about themselves, and Bush is one of them. Bush should have never been president. He lied and cheated to do that, not once, but twice. This country does nothing about the crooks in office. They let them get away with it. They let Bush get away with lying about this stupid war he started. So we could care less about America.  You people don't want to do anything about it, then we don't care either. Palin abused her power as governor, but she'll get away with it, just like the senator who collected money from the oil companies. Nothing will happen to these people,so the hell with America.

The biggest problem we have are the people we elected to run our government it's so obvious they don't care about us, they are concerned only with themselves, I think it's time we vote them out, want we need to do is vote out every incumbent and get some new blood in  out government, it can't be any worst than we have now.  People it's our government, our jobs, our homes, and our future that's at stake

carrie--you are so right. What may be the worst thing coming is that people will vote for the D or the R after someones name and never consider the intelligence of the person.

We keep electing people   based on their party affiliation and vote them out for the same reason, no thought given to weather the person has/will do a good job for the people. What ever happened to the volunteer government where people would serve for a given term and than go back to their JOBS, allow someone else to come in.

We need to have term limits on members of congress and mandated limits on what can be spent to on an election. Lets give the government back to the people!!!

Bush: Yeah, it's 1 followed by a bunch of zeroes.

This from the guy who gave us the real definition of Budget.

Thats exactly right, this country is so broke its on the verge on defaulting on payments.  Our debt has risen to 20 Trillion dollars and thats way over what we take in.

We are officialy broke and just get ready for the big crash.  Its coming and be prepaired for it.  Soon the next bubble will burst and its not bankers or wall street its our own federal goverment that is going to tank.  As i said we have borrowed up to our eye balls and there is no way on ever repaying those loans we took from China, Middleeast and japan.

Everywhere that giving the EU supreme power over member states was put to a vote, it was voted down. So all the parliaments decided to toss out the ALL votes and only let parliaments decide, except for Ireland where the constitution required a referendum. ALL parliaments were in favor of giving the EU constitutional power over member states, but unanimous consent by all member states was needed. Thank you Ireland for voting NO. There is so much power behind globalism that elections are tossed out and forbidden.

the government is loaded with morons for letting this pass. They shove money at the banks to fix a problem with the banks and thier investors, they buy up all the debt that the banks have (loans, morgages)where does this help the people? if you owed 15k on your morgage after the bill passed you still owe 15k.What should have happened here was a proposal to the people something like what the stimulus check was suppose to do.i got $600.00 from the stimulus and it went to pay bills because of the riseing expenses of utilities, therefore the stimulus check did nothing for the economic growth like intended.they need a bigger amount givin to the people to sustain such a growth. you slap the american people with 30-50k a person over the age of 21 and then you would see a huge growth.people would pay thier morgages and car loans off wich would bail out the banks and the people would have the extra money for retail economy growth at the same time. not to mention the people who are in dire need such as layed off employees and homeless people that this would help.its a win,win situation. But yet again the government failes the american people and does as what was mentioned in another persons statement here "its helpin the rich get richer" and does nothing for us hard working tax payers

I didn't even read this article. George Bush is a joke. He holds no credibility with the republicans, democrats, or the american people. I think he actually makes things worse when he gives these speeches. I think back to several months ago when he made a speech saying that the economy was not in a recession; the very next day an interview with Warren Buffet was published where he was saying that the economy was in fact in a recession. I think I'll believe the self made billionaire over a man who has bankrupted every business he has ever run as well as been charged with 4 counts of insider trading. If they want to restore confidence in the market they need to stop the cheap talk and show the american people something. All I have seen so far is that they have borrowed almost a trillion dollars; thats it. This money was borrowed from China and will be added to the already record level debt Bush has accrued. The market hasn't stabalized since that was passed and has in fact gotten worse. I think the american people are tired of being lied to. Seems to me the only people that get ahead in the world are the ones who break the rules. The executives of these companies that created this crisis are all millionaires; they were in fact paid millions of dollars to create this mess. The government says they are going to charge some of these people with crimes but that is a joke. The consumers who went out and knowlingly or unknowingly (which is not an excuse by the way) and borrowed more money than they can pay back are now getting there loans re-adjusted at rates better than someone like me, who has good credit, was responsible with thier money, etc... can get; but it is me and the group of people I'm in who are being asked to pay for this mess. My issue is accountability. The government needs to show me and the rest of the world that actions such as the ones that created this economic situation have severe consequences. Start putting some of these corrupt CEO's and corrupt politicians in jail. When people can truly believe that the people running these companies are fullfilling thier fiduciary duty to the stockholders, us, then maybe we will feel more confident about investing in these companies.

Let's bring back the 6% passbook savings account when I was  kid, and make it for checking also, cuz there ain't no way I'll be an investor unless I win the lottery, and then it'll be cuz my accountant made me do it; no, I don't have an accountant...as far as I can see, the only investing I do is taxes and I don't see ANY return on those, even donations for me are no longer "tax deductible", and property taxes..? don't get me goin...I owe more than I paid on a house, have a mortgage with no equity per se (and junior loans of any kind), have 2 liens on my 2 cars and owe a substantial sum on my 1 credit card; that makes me the backbone of this economy, I've never paid outright for a car and I've never paid off my credit card bill at the end of the month...the fact that I'm good about making my payments, along with others in similar straits, is the only thing that apparently keeps this world economy afloat...we make about 40+K per year and we are gettin' hammered, son goin' thru college, etc...the schism between Washington/New York and us is getting wider and wider...when's the last time your congressman/person/whatever actually drove his own car to work, mowed his lawn, SHOVELLED (sp) his snowy sidewalk, or watched basic cable...? we don't have a dishwasher and use a blade when I shave, and AC and heat we use at the last minute, sans plastic on the windows; energy conservation is a myth, someone else's agenda, we are still punished collectively, unless of course you're better off financially, THEN maybe you have the wherewithal...I'm a retired vet so I'm not so concerned with a national healthcare plan, except my co-payments keep goin' up, and dental I have thru my wife's company...and mom's doin' OK, son's doin' fine...so for me, it's all about BOHICA

Don't just blame Bush, he is as guilty as they all are, but you people need to see the democratic congress are the ones passing these bills, and now they are going to announce more bills to spend on this monday.  They are borrowing the money from the japanese, and chinese to fund these bills, then they are taking your tax money to pay it back.  Its not only Bush, but the senate and congress making all this possible.  Give them all a parachute and pray when they use it, the parachute fails to open.

I don't think that Frank and Nancy have this money! We  must  scale  down government  pork! We  must  trim  the  CEO  salaries. We  must  put  people  to  work  and  start  exporting!  And  we  must redouble  the  efforts  to  institute  a  single  world  currency  to  prevent  China from getting  wealthy  on  the  backs  of  the  American  people! Let  them  convert  their  yuans  to  dollars, and then we will compete!

Barney and Chris Dodd are doing some CYA. They may be the two congressmen most responsible for our current problems. Both of them did their best to shoot down legislation that would have prevented what has happened.

And don't chime in with comments about Republicans having a majority in congress prior to 2006. There are an equal number of members of each party serving on the Senate Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs with the Chair being a member of the Senatorial majority (Chris Dodd, D-Conn is Chair). Same with the House Committee on Finance (Barney Frank, D-Mass is Chair). When you can't get the members of a committee to agree the legislation doesn't reach the floor of either house for a vote.

Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are now trying to find a cure because they know that when the investigations are completed, they're going to have to share the blame! If they can get us out of this mess, it will serve to temper that blame.

Nancy and Frank stand for what ever gets them the most money in their pockets and into their party funds. Both are completely corrupted and a mouth piece for lobbyists.

Notice congress want to throw the american people another bone with no meat. While giving away 850 billion to Wallstreet and foreign investors, they plan to give 150 billion away to us tax payers. Why not the other way around since I will just be giving back my share of the 150 billion in taxes and skyrocketing inflation anyways?

It's amazing. People want to show their IQ in here which looks to be around 0%. When are you people going to learn that all you do is late hate eat at you inisde. Move on with you life. The goverment isn't going to help you. No government ever decided they would be a government to shovel out money to help them live the American dream. That's on you and if you don't know how to do it, go study somewhere besides in here. No Republican or Democrat cares what is said. It's not going to change the measly little vote in here. You people need to undertand that this country is bigger than the internet or Newsvine. So, "sign off" and go do something positive.  Name calling just shows your IQ to be going lower.

All the candidates are going to do is try to get you to show how THEM how popular they are. That's all you are to them. A popular vote. They aren't goignt o put any money in your pocket or pay your bills. Most of you probably have close family memebers that are a different pary than you. Does that make them you enemy? I don't think so. Talk is cheap in here and Newsvine isn't running any polls. Neither is MSNBC. You can't get an overall poll from, and I will take all the sites, 12,000 people. Think about how many people are in this country that can vote. There is NO poll out there that can give an honest poll. I live in MD and I have yet to see an Obama sign in a yard, but every yard, I see with a sign, say vote for McCain. I know, very well I don't live in a Republican neighbor hood, but everyone in my neighborhood has a McCain sign in their yard. I have a POLL on Newsvine that states this could easily be a last minute swing vote. If I were anyone in here, and a Democrat, I would tread a bit easier on the name calling. Those are tough words to eat if you lose. Remember the media does not count for the population. Here are some number for you to think about.

The United States Census Bureau states of the U.S, population, only 12.9%  are reported "Black or African American" . So to say that people are voting for Obama because of skin color" is a mute subject. That figure leaves about 87.10% that are not. If we talked to 50% of the balance of other races, that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. One, being what is going to happen on election day. The media only counts for about 5% of the populations decision on who they will vote for. So, with those facts, who do you think the media is looking out for? Guess what? Not you. They are looking to keep their ratings up so THEY can survive this economy. They are hurting also, believe it or not, and why do you think they are siding with Obama this election? Here is the Real Reason the Media is supporting the Democratic Race"  Remember how Democrats always scream the Republicans only take care of the rich? Well guess what. The media Moguls are filthy rich. What does that tell you. You actually think the government will help you. That is so lame. All people do is show who they think is most popular. Clinton was popular, wasn't he? He just didn't have very high morals. Disappointed a lot of Democrats I know.

You should get your facts straight. You are lowering your IQ. In 1999 The Clinton Administration was in the White House in 1999.  The Clinton Administration put pressure on Fannie Mae to start making loans to people with lower incomes and less than perfect credit. Peter Williamson informed the Administration that it would be another 'Thrift Crisis" just like the 80's where it would 'grow up" and would need bailed out. Hmmm. Interesting he saw that in 1999 and the Democratic Adminstration couldn't.

They don't care what you have to say, what you say doesn't line their pockets as much as the secret deals that the congress and senate make with the financial district or the other countries, that they are putting us in debt to, by they way they will never get us out.  it is time to get the current setting politicians out have them investigated and charged with every possible thing we can.  I f they are found of any wrong doing they should be charged ALL OF THEM, and no matter how the dems say they aren't involved they are.  The louder they cry the more guilty they are.

Anything...And I mean anything that involves George W Bush worries me. Why doesn't he and Cheney just go back to Texas and stay there? Haven't they done enough?? I would like to be a fly on the wall of the cave Osama bin Ladin is living. He's probably laughing his ass off. Just think the US Government taught him how to beat the Russians and then utilized it and add their own spices of war against the teachers. With very much success mind you. No matter what anybody wants to say, Bush has taken our United States down a path of destruction. Our place in the world is the bottom of the ladder. And he is now trying to cut the bottom rung on that ladder. Go back to Crawford dummy.

And again, you forget the president does nothing without the congress (democrat majority) or the senate letting him do it.  They gave him approval to do what he has done.  Now they are crying about it.  Hold them all responsible not just one.  They should all be out of there,

A key part of his speech was omited - the when, "As soon as I leave this office, and, if Senator MCcain doesn't replace me, America will regain it's financial premises...unfortunately, it will only be because most Americans will no longer have mortgage payments to deal with...only rent." I have to ask, "Who (man with sewer system named after him) will own these houses, and how far from our borders will the money be sent?" We will survive. I wanted to do more than just survive. At a time when my life was becoming better, and just before it has, things are going to flounder? Well, I guess it's a good thing that I know what it takes to survive on nothing already.

Neither the Dems nor the Repubs work for the american people, they work for big business and their lobbyists. It does not matter which you vote for McCaim or Obama, you will get the same results, and neither is good for us. Both parties are leading us to a system of two classes, the Rich and the Poor. We will be slaves to their system. Vote independent in this election and send Washington the message enough is enough.

The economy will not emerge stronger - only those jerk off companies that conducted business unethicially will benefit.  Bush is part of the scam to make taxpayers pay for these badly run businesses, that should be out of business.
